'Gold ND' Flax (RFP-246)

'Gold ND' was released from the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station in 2014. It is a yellow seeded high yielding flax variety. 'Gold ND' is adapted to the north-central flax growing region of the USA based on 2009-2012 uniform regional nursery trials. 'Gold ND' has high yield potential. In trials from 2009-2012 'Gold ND' had the greatest average yield of all entries evaluated. The average yield of 'Gold ND' across ND in 2014 was 29.3 bu/acre. 'Gold ND' has good oil content and oil drying quality. It is resistant to flax rust and has good tolerance to flax wilt. 'Gold ND' compared with 'Carter' is 2 days later to first flower, 3 cm taller, more tolerant to wilt and nearly the same test weight and oil content. This variety has blue flowers and medium seed size.

To help ensure genetic purity, 'Gold ND' flax has been protected under PVPA Title V (certificate No. 201500005) and must be sold as a class of certified seed.
