'ND Gardner' winter rye (RFP-319)

Description

'ND Gardner' was developed by the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center agronomy program, under the direction of Steve Zwinger. 'ND Gardner' is a very early maturing winter rye, 6 days earlier to heading than 'ND Dylan'. It is winter hardy, tall and has good early season vigor and growth. 'ND Gardner' has average seed yield and test weight with small seed size. 'ND Gardner' exhibits resistance to wheat leaf rust and is moderately susceptible to rye rust, similar to 'ND Dylan' and other commonly grown varieties. 'ND Gardner' is intended for cover crop and forage applications.
