Phenolic Phytochemicals for Bone Metastasis of Cancer (RFT-694)

Invention Summary

Metastasis, responsible for 90% of cancer deaths, remains poorly understood, especially in hormone-regulated cancers like prostate and breast cancer. These cancers commonly metastasize to bone, leading to complications and significantly reduced quality of life. This invention involves compositions and methods utilizing phenolic phytochemicals derived from oregano, cranberry, and Rhodiola for treating bone metastasis from cancers, particularly prostate and breast cancer. In some embodiments, the composition comprises a polymer, a clay, and a phenolic phytochemical of oregano, cranberry, or Rhodiola. In some embodiments, the polymer and clay form a scaffold which the phenolic phytochemical coats or is impregnated in the scaffold or delivered to the scaffold.
